The Growing Season: A Wine & Soul Retreat
A group spiritual retreat based on my first book, The Growing Season: Contemplations on Wine and the Soul, which explores the intersection between vineyard, cellar, tasting room, and the soul. It's a closer look at the transformation that occurs from grape to glass, and what that process can teach us about what it means to flourish as human beings.
Our main sessions will draw on themes within the book, and provide opportunity for self-reflection, conversation, and spiritual practice.
There will also be a couple of curated wine tastings, delicious meals, and ample time for individual silence, solitude, and rest.
Your registration includes:
Three nights in a solo* room in a gorgeous retreat setting
Professional session facilitation and all materials, including a signed copy of The Growing Season book (mailed or hand-delivered upon receipt of payment)
Incredible, lovingly-created meals prepared by our own private chef
Two curated wine tastings, including a three-course dinner with custom wine pairings
Twice-daily centring prayer and contemplative practice sessions by Rivendell hosts (optional)
*unless attending with a spouse/partner, and prefer to share.
NOTE: Registration does not include transportation to/from Bowen Island.

Cheers for The Growing Season:
As a foot-crushed grape still in spiritual fermentation, I find that Boschman’s/Jesus’s wine-soul imagery resonates deeply. Nelson is a wise friend and experienced vintner who creatively guides faith shifts like mine. He clarified my own long process as a Welch’s(TM) Grape Baptist into the deep dessert reds of the Orthodox chalice, all with a smile on stained and satisfied lips.

Through the imagery and process of grape becoming wine, Boschman invites us to see our spiritual journeys as rooted in the cycles of life and the rhythms of the earth. Found in the humble and accessible day-to-day moments of our lives, our handiwork, our interactions with others, and the experiences of our senses, he invites us to see that there is nowhere else we need to be to encounter ourselves, each other, and our Creator.
